gained strong
support from the water world right from the start. More
than 8,500 delegates and
trade visitors from 79 countries gathered at the inaugural Water Week
in June
2008, with foreign participants making up 70% of the total attendance.
In
addition, total deals exceeding US$270 million were sealed during the

1st International Congress on Subsurface
Environment
15th
– 18th September, 2009
São
Paulo, Brazil
Groundwater
resources account for 97% of all the fresh water
available for public supply. It
is
the main element beneath the Earth’s surface, since it is mobile
and carries
the result of the strong interaction with other environments (recharge
water,
soil and porous or fractured media).
Underground
environment management, including soil and
groundwater protection and contamination control, still doesn't have a
specific
forum for discussion. A broad discussion on soil and groundwater
sustainable
use has not happened so far, although there is a great demand for it.
This
event has been planned in order to fill the void left by
the lack of an international technical scientific symposium focused on
underground environment. During
the four days of the conference, representatives from
governmental agencies, industry, environmental engineering and
consulting, and
academia will get together to show their news, discoveries and
mistakes.
International and national experts are confirmed.
