Drill 2008 will see the first conference run jointly by the New Zealand Drillers Federation (NZDF) and the Australian Drilling Industry Association (ADIA). The event will be staged at the Langham Hotel in Auckland from August 14-17.

The
  DRILLING FOR GEOLOGY 2008   Conference is this year’s only conference aimed at geologists and geotechnical engineers who analyse and interpret information collected from drilling. The conference is organised by the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG), one of the leading industry organisations representing geoscientists in Australia.

The conference is being held in Brisbane and consists of two days of technical presentations introduced via key-note speakers, followed by a day of special interest technical workshops and forums. There will be a trade exhibition and poster display held in conjunction with the first two days. The key focus areas of the conference are:

  • Drilling logistics, from planning and approvals to execution;
  • Drilling techniques;
  • Drill hole sampling and logging methods and applications;
  • Borehole geophysics and measurement/logging whilst drilling; and
  • Geotechnical and metallurgical applications and methods.
